TransUnion LLC is seeking a Principal Engineer for Security AI Tooling and Automation in Chicago. The role blends security engineering with AI-powered tooling, delivering end-to-end automation across vulnerability management, remediation, and governance within a hybrid work model.

The candidate will lead tooling efforts, drive CI/CD integration, and mentor engineers, while collaborating with senior stakeholders to shape the automation roadmap.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in security engineering, platform/security engineering, or software engineering with a security focus.
• Experience building agentic AI or LLM-powered automation frameworks in Python or Go.
• Experience delivering production-grade tooling and dashboards for security teams.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain the agentic automation framework and orchestration layer for tool invocation and state management.
• Own internal security tooling, dashboards, remediation-tracking integrations, and automation.
• Integrate security data sources via APIs, data connectors, and normalization pipelines.
• Automate remediation initiation and tracking, ensure SLAs, and reduce manual handoffs.
• Embed automation in CI/CD pipelines with automated gates and pre-production checks.
• Maintain production reliability through observability, alerting, and health monitoring.
• Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and cross-pod architecture input.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to share context and drive outcomes.
