Job summary

CVS Health is seeking a Principal Software Development Engineer to lead architecture across cloud-native platforms, data, and AI-driven solutions. You will guide numerous value streams, drive strategic technical initiatives, and mentor engineers in a fast-paced, enterprise environment.

You will collaborate with product, platform, and DevOps teams, ensure secure handling of PII/PHI, and help shape scalable health-tech experiences for hundreds of millions of consumers.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software industry experience.
• 7+ years leading enterprise-scale solution design and architecture.
• 7+ years hands-on with Java, Python, Node.js, Angular, ReactJS.
• 7+ years experience with relational and NoSQL databases.
• 7+ years designing cloud-native microservices on GCP.
• 5+ years designing modern APIs and RESTful services.
• 5+ years with micro-services and RESTful APIs.
• 5+ years designing and developing complex systems with rigor.
• 5+ years experience in requirements analysis, estimation, design, testing.
• 5+ years of communication and presentation skills to leadership.
• 4+ years managing technical, customer-facing applications.
• Proven ability to be self-directed and deliver with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Guide implementation of reference architecture solutions with best-in-class UX.
• Evaluate emerging technologies; lead POC initiatives and architectural recommendations.
• Develop well-engineered, flexible, resilient systems delivered on schedule.
• Author white papers, guides, and technical documentation for developers.
• Collaborate across levels and functions to align product, platform, and DevOps.
• Champion user-centric design with privacy and security baked in.
• Provide SME oversight on future app updates and maintenance.
• Mentor architects and engineers; foster excellence and learning.
• Define and validate non-functional requirements (perf, scale, availability).
• Analyze current architecture and identify improvement opportunities.
• Coordinate with stakeholders to reach optimal business and tech solutions.
