Job summary

Workday is seeking a Principal AI Engineer for the Agent Factory to lead end-to-end system design, orchestration, and product integration of our next generation of intelligent agents across the Workday platform. You’ll bridge ML engineering, platform architecture, and enterprise workflows to deliver production-grade solutions with strong governance.

You will own design choices for integrating foundation models, ensure responsible AI guardrails, optimize latency and cost, and mentor engineers

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience with deep expertise in distributed systems, cloud computing, and API design, plus 2+ years of dedicated focus building production‑grade LLM/agentic systems OR 7+ years of experience specifically within Machine Learning Engineering or AI application development, with 3+ years dedicated to shipping LLM‑backed products.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end system design for intelligent agents and integration with Workday platform.
• Architect and orchestrate complex agent workflows and AI capabilities for enterprise use cases.
• Champion Responsible and Governed AI with guardrails for privacy, explainability, and reliability.
