Job summary

Micron Technology, Inc in Boise, ID seeks a Principal AI Engineer to own architecture for AI-assisted frontend manufacturing platforms. You will influence 20–50 engineers across teams, establish design standards, and mentor senior staff while delivering measurable improvements to manufacturing operations.

You will also define AI tooling standards, drive adoption, and guide modernization of legacy Perl and C++ systems with strong emphasis on security and maintainability.

Qualifications

• 10–12 years of professional software engineering experience delivering production applications.
• Expertise in modern frontend development (Angular, TypeScript) and web application architecture.
• Strong server-side engineering with .NET/C# and proficiency in C++, Python, or Perl.
• Hands-on use of AI-assisted development tools and agentic coding workflows in production codebases.
• Experience leading architecture and design across multiple teams and influencing standards.
• Ability to mentor engineers and communicate trade-offs to technical and non-technical audiences.
• On-site work in Boise, Idaho, five days per week.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deliver features for frontend manufacturing applications.
• Lead architecture reviews and ensure reliability, performance, security, and maintainability.
• Contribute production-quality code across a diverse stack including .NET, C++, Angular, Perl, and Python.
• Diagnose cross-system problems spanning frontend apps, services, and MES integrations.
• Participate in on-call rotations and incident escalation for manufacturing operations.
• Modernize legacy applications with migration planning and incremental codebase replacement.
• Collaborate with product owners and stakeholders to translate factory requirements into technical solutions.
• Define and uphold AI-assisted engineering standards, guardrails, and best practices.
