Job summary

Yahoo Mail is seeking a Senior Principal AI/ML Architect to define and drive the architectural vision for agentic, assistive, and personalization intelligence across Yahoo Mail and adjacent properties. You will translate ambiguous business opportunities into a cohesive platform strategy and lead architecture for mission-critical AI systems at global scale.

As a senior technical leader, you will set engineering standards, influence cross-functional teams (Product, Data Science, Infra), mentor

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
12+ years of software engineering with deep AI/ML expertise.
Proven track record architecting large-scale AI platforms.
Strong expertise in distributed ML, LLMs, personalization and ranking, and production inference infra.
Experience influencing architecture across multiple teams or business units.
Ability to translate business strategy into technical strategy.

Responsibilities

Define reference architectures for multi-agent systems.
Tool-augmented LLM orchestration and memory/context frameworks.
Retrieval + reasoning hybrid architectures with guardrails and responsible AI standards.
Design human-in-the-loop and autonomy control patterns.
Define next-gen personalization architecture and real-time ranking systems.
Set metrics frameworks and benchmarking for personalization quality.
Lead architectural decisions on model serving, hosting, cost and latency budgets.
Drive reusable AI infrastructure across teams and govern lifecycle governance.
Mentor principal and senior engineers and shape external industry practice.
