Calix in San Jose, CA is seeking a Principal Engineer to lead AI agent development for Calix Cloud. You design and deploy autonomous agents and integrate them with existing enterprise systems to enable scalable workflows.

You will collaborate with product managers and data scientists to align agent capabilities with business needs, exploring Generative AI, LLM orchestration, and multi-agent frameworks to push telecom solutions forward.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software development with AI/ML exposure.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, AI/ML, or related field.
• Hands-on experience building AI agents with frameworks like Google ADK, LangChain, CrewAI or AutoGen.
• Strong programming skills in Go, Rust, or Python.
• Familiarity with LLM integration and orchestration of multi-agent workflows.
• Knowledge of vector databases, embeddings, and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG).
• Understanding of Generative AI, NLP, and reinforcement learning concepts.
• LLM inference optimization and SLMS with LORA/QLORA techniques.

Responsibilities

• Design and build AI agents capable of perception, reasoning and autonomous action.
• Integrate agents with enterprise systems using REST APIs and microservices.
• Optimize performance, scalability, and security in multi-agent environments.
• Collaborate with product managers and data scientists to align capabilities with needs.
• Explore emerging Generative AI technologies and multi-agent frameworks.
