Job summary

Xcimer Energy in Denver, CO, seeks a Principal Electro-Optical/Adaptive Optics Engineer to lead the adaptive optics system for fusion beamlines. You will own system-level requirements, performance budgets, and real-time control loop design, guiding optical engineers, laser scientists, and technicians to successful implementation.

You will influence group standards, development workflows, and technical direction, mentoring staff and shaping the AO capability as the program evolves.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree required in optics/physics/EE or closely related field.
• 8+ years of optical science/engineering experience, including 5+ years in adaptive optics/wavefront sensing.
• Experience delivering adaptive optics/beam control systems in industry, national labs, or observatories.

Responsibilities

• Serve as technical lead for the adaptive optics system from requirements through integration and commissioning.
• Own AO and wavefront control requirements for fusion beamlines and component仕様.
• Lead vendor engagement and procurement for AO components and sub-systems.
• Define proof-of-concept and risk-reduction experiments and direct teams to execute them.
• Mentor engineers and participate in hiring as the group expands.
