Job summary

Nyla Technology Solutions seeks a proactive Systems Engineer / Operations Specialist to keep critical mission platforms and data pipelines running. You will monitor system health, troubleshoot across hardware, software, networking, and data flows, and drive quick recovery actions in a 24x7 operational tempo.

Strong Linux command-line skills, experience with cloud, containers, and virtualization, and a track record of clear SOPs and incident response are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/CE/SE or related field, plus 20+ years of software development experience OR High School Diploma/GED plus 25+ years of hands-on technical software engineering experience.

Responsibilities

• Monitor system health across cloud, containerized, and virtualized environments.
• Troubleshoot complex hardware, software, networking, and data-pipeline issues to restore uptime.
• Operate in a 24x7 high-availability environment, maintain SOPs, and manage incidents.
• Create clear documentation, tickets, and shift handoff reports for continuity.

ACTIVE SECURITY CLEARANCE AT THE TS/SCI POLYGRAPH LEVEL IS REQUIRED

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Systems Engineer / Operations Specialist to keep critical mission platforms and data pipelines running seamlessly. In this high-visibility operational role, you will monitor system health, tackle complex hardware and network troubleshooting, and ensure maximum uptime and performance across cloud, containerized, and virtualized environments.

The annual base salary range for this role is $206,000-$244,000 (USD), which does not include discretionary bonus compensation or our comprehensive benefits package. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things.

Required Skills

• Linux & Command-Line Proficiency: Deep comfort navigating, querying, and administering Linux systems via the command line.
• System & Data-Flow Troubleshooting: Proven ability to isolate and resolve root causes across hardware, software, networking, and data pipelines.
• Operational Vigilance: Hands-on experience working in or supporting a 24×7 high-availability operational environment, maintaining SOPs, and prioritizing critical incidents.
• Collaboration & Documentation: Exceptional communication skills with a track record of maintaining clear SOPs, technical tickets, and shift handoff reports.
• Tools & Platforms: Working knowledge and practical experience across core operational tools:
  • Ticketing & Knowledge Management: Jira, Confluence
  • Containers & Orchestration: Docker, Kubernetes, Rancher
  • Monitoring & Alerting: Nagios, Grafana, Prometheus
  • Data & Infrastructure: Elasticsearch, Redis, Apache NiFi, AWS, Virtualization

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline, PLUS 20+ years of professional software development experience OR High School Diploma / GED, PLUS 25+ years of hands-on technical software engineering experience in lieu of a degree.

Desired Skills

• Deep experience with cloud-native architectures in AWS environments.
• Hands-on administration or performance tuning of Apache NiFi data flows.
• Advanced experience with Kubernetes cluster management and container orchestration via Rancher.
• Incident response leadership and experience refining incident response playbooks and SOPs.
• Experience setting up and customizing Grafana dashboards and Prometheus alerts from scratch.
