Job summary

BlueScope in Missouri seeks a Prime Coater Operator to responsibly run the Prime Coater machine, monitor film thickness and viscosity, and adjust settings per QC guidance. This role supports finish coaters as needed and contributes to safety and quality across the coating line.

Candidates should have a High School diploma, at least one year of manufacturing experience, and familiarity with basic tools. Strong attention to detail and ability to work 12-hour shifts are essential.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent (GED).
• One year of operating experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of basic hand and power tools.

Responsibilities

• Set up the Coater and measure painting parameters (wet film thickness, viscosity, temperature, roll speeds).
• Adjust the Coater following QC Lab Tech directions and perform roll changes.
• Clean painting equipment and move paint drums in/out of the coater room.
• Record paint usage data and enter information into Oracle.
• Coordinate with lab on paint adjustments and maintain filtration/circulation systems.
• Follow safety protocols and work from shop orders; keep the work area clean and orderly.
