Job summary

Caldwell Zoo in Tyler, TX is seeking a Mammals Keeper specializing in primates to provide daily care for primate species and maintain exhibits. The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Biology or Animal Science and around one year of related experience.

You will perform veterinary treatments, record keeping, enrichment, training, and assist in visitor education while following safety procedures. This is a full-time, on-site position with benefits including health and life insurance, paid time

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Biology or Animal Science or related field.
• 1 year experience and/or training in animal care preferred.
• Ability to read safety instructions and report findings.

Responsibilities

• Cleans and disinfects enclosures and equipment daily.
• Checks enclosure cleanliness, safety, and structural soundness.
• Keeps records: behavioral observations, veterinary logs, diet data.
• Performs veterinary treatments as prescribed by the veterinarian.
• Participates in enrichment, training, and capture procedures.
• Answers visitor questions about animals and zoo operations.
• Assists in training new keepers.
