Job summary

Sioux Falls Zoo & Aquarium in Sioux Falls, SD, seeks a zookeeper to care for primates, kangaroos, and other species. Responsibilities include feeding, enclosure upkeep, behavioral observation, and implementing training and enrichment programs.

Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor’s degree in Zoology, Biology, Animal Science or related field.
• Previous animal training experience preferred.
• AZA facility experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide all aspects of daily care for animals in assigned exhibits.
• Prepare and feed approved diets.
• Monitor physical and behavioral health of animals.
• Implement training and enrichment programs (operant conditioning).
• Design and maintain animal enclosures and displays.
• Record keeping: daily reports, medical notes, enrichment logs.
