Job summary

Inotiv, Inc. is seeking a Behavior Technician to implement and improve environmental enrichment for nonhuman primates. You will work closely with veterinary and behavioral management teams to ensure high standards of care and welfare.

Daily duties include behavioral assessments, socialization, monitoring groups, and documenting enrichment plans. A degree is preferred, along with optional AALAS certification and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in relevant field preferred.
• A combination of education and experience may be considered.
• AALAS Certification preferred or should be obtained within the first year of employment.
• Computer skills: Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and with diverse teams.
• Work in inclement and extreme temperatures; some off-hour shifts may be required.

Responsibilities

• Regularly conduct behavioral assessments of newly arrived and colony animals.
• Assist with socializations into pairs or groups and document related activities.
• Monitor newly formed pairs, social groups and breeding groups.
• Recognize abnormal or stereotypic behaviors and implement enrichment plans.
• Implement, track and document plans.
• Prepare animals for research procedures with shaping plans.
• Maintain documentation as needed.
• Collaborate with veterinary and animal care staff to uphold care standards.
• Propose new socialization strategies and enrichment ideas.
