Job summary

AbbVie seeks a Behavioral Technician I to support the Behavioral Management program, focusing on operant conditioning and enrichment for research animals. You will assist in training staff, maintain training records, and ensure animal welfare and program compliance.

The role requires a background in lab animal science or related field, with enrichment/behavior experience and ALAT eligibility. Strong communication and teamwork are essential, with on-site duties and weekend rotation as needed.

Qualifications

• High School/GED with 3 years experience in lab animal science or related degree with 2+ years lab animal experience.
• Experience in animal husbandry/enrichment/behavior/training.
• AALAS ALAT certification or eligibility; knowledge of regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assist with positive reinforcement training of animals.
• Train staff on standardization for conditioning and enrichment.
• Maintain documentation of all animal trainings and enrichment activities.
• Support daily animal enrichment tasks including scheduling, prep, and supply maintenance.
• Assist with 3R principles integration into the Behavioral Management program.
