Primary Therapist – Teen Program

The Redpoint Center | Boulder, CO

Full-Time | Onsite | Reports to: Clinical Program Manager

About the Role

The Redpoint Center is seeking a compassionate, motivated Primary Therapist to join our Teen Program in Boulder, Colorado. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of adolescents navigating mental health and substance use challenges.

The ideal candidate enjoys working with teens, understands the unique challenges of adolescence, and is passionate about helping young people build confidence, develop healthy coping skills, strengthen relationships, and work toward lasting recovery.

In this role, you will provide individual, family, and group therapy in a supportive outpatient setting. You will collaborate with families and a multidisciplinary clinical team to create personalized treatment plans that reflect each teen’s strengths, needs, and goals.

This position includes approximately 18–21 client-facing hours per week, participation in morning and evening groups, and ongoing collaboration with the clinical team. We are looking for a therapist who brings empathy, flexibility, sound clinical judgment, and a genuine interest in connecting with adolescents and supporting their growth.

What You’ll Do
  • Build meaningful connections: Develop trusting therapeutic relationships with teens by creating a safe, respectful, and supportive environment where they feel heard and understood.
  • Provide individual therapy: Help adolescents explore challenges, identify personal strengths, develop coping strategies, and work toward their treatment goals.
  • Facilitate teen groups: Lead engaging, developmentally appropriate group therapy sessions focused on emotional regulation, communication, relationships, healthy decision-making, and recovery.
  • Partner with families: Provide family therapy once a week and collaborate with parents or caregivers to support progress while respecting client privacy and confidentiality.
  • Create individualized treatment plans: Complete assessments and develop practical, goal-oriented plans tailored to each teen’s needs.
  • Support mental health and recovery: Help teens navigate concerns such as anxiety, depression, substance use, stress, and challenges at home, at school, or with peers.
  • Monitor progress: Evaluate treatment outcomes, update goals, and adjust interventions based on each client’s progress and changing needs.
  • Collaborate with the care team: Work closely with other therapists, psychiatrists, case managers, and external providers to coordinate comprehensive care.
  • Maintain accurate documentation: Complete timely, thorough, and accurate clinical notes, treatment plans, progress updates, and discharge documentation.
  • Recognize when additional support is needed: Identify when referrals, psychological testing, or a higher level of care may benefit a client.
  • Contribute to program growth: Share ideas and collaborate with colleagues to strengthen programming, improve the teen experience, and support effective clinical practices.
  • Practice ethically and responsibly: Maintain professional boundaries and follow applicable legal, ethical, confidentiality, and clinical standards.
  • Support Milieu Management: Actively contribute to a safe, structured, and therapeutic milieu by setting clear expectations, maintaining appropriate boundaries, and promoting a positive group environment. Support teens in navigating peer interactions, managing challenging behaviors, and practicing healthy communication and coping skills in real time. Maintain awareness of group dynamics, respond proactively to disruptions, and collaborate with the clinical team to ensure consistency, safety, and accountability throughout the program day.
What We’re Looking For
  • A master’s degree in social work, counseling, clinical psychology, or a related field.
  • Appropriate Colorado licensure or provisional credential for the role, such as LSW, SWC, LPCC, LPC, or LAC, as applicable to the position and permitted scope of practice.
  • A genuine interest in working with adolescents and supporting their mental health and recovery.
  • Experience working with teens in a clinical, behavioral health, or substance use treatment setting is preferred.
  • Familiarity with individual, group, and family therapy approaches.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based, trauma-informed, and developmentally appropriate therapeutic practices.
  • The ability to build rapport with teens while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with families and a multidisciplinary team.
  • Sound clinical judgment, flexibility, adaptability, and the ability to respond thoughtfully to challenging situations.
  • Strong organizational skills and a commitment to accurate, timely clinical documentation.
  • A commitment to ethical care, cultural humility, ongoing learning, and professional development.
