Job summary

Sandstone Care in Alexandria, VA seeks a Primary Therapist to lead individual, group, and family therapy sessions within a multidisciplinary team, delivering evidence-based treatment plans and supporting client recovery goals.

The role requires a master’s degree in behavioral health, an active Virginia license, 3+ years of experience with ages 13-30 in detox/IOP/PHP settings, and strong documentation and collaboration skills. This is a full-time, on-site position with competitive compensation.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in behavioral health science (Clinical Social Work, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, or related field) is required.
• Active Virginia license in good standing is required.
• Minimum 3 years of experience with clients aged 13–30 in detox, residential, PHP, or IOP settings.
• Background check including criminal records and motor vehicle records is required.

Responsibilities

• Deliver individual, group, and family therapy using evidence-based modalities.
• Develop and monitor comprehensive treatment plans with clients, families, and the clinical team.
• Ensure clinical documentation is accurate, timely, and compliant with standards.
• Participate in utilization reviews and discuss medical necessity with insurers as needed.
• Coordinate with families to align on treatment goals and progress.
• Contribute to program development and performance improvement initiatives.
