Job summary

Mercy Clinic Primary Care - Northwest Expressway is hiring for Medical Assistants, LPNs, or EMT/Paramedics for a full-time, 40-hour workweek, Monday through Friday, 8am–5pm. You will prepare patients for visits, take vital signs, review history, perform basic in-office testing, administer vaccines, and enter documentation in Epic to support preventative care.

You’ll work with a collaborative care team and help close care gaps while following office policy.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required for MA tracks.
• Certification: BLS to be obtained within 90 days of hire.
• EMT/Paramedic accepted for MA pathways; active CMA/RMA/CCMA optional for MA.
• Certification and licensure vary by track (MA/LPN/EMT).
• 6 months of clinical healthcare experience preferred in primary care.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for visits by taking vitals and documenting chief complaints.
• Review medical history, allergies, and complete medication reconciliation.
• Assist with in-office testing including blood draws, EKGs, and basic studies.
• Administer vaccines and injections within scope of practice.
• Schedule follow-up appointments and coordinate care with providers.

Position Details:

Mercy Clinic Primary Care - Northwest Expressway

Full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday 8am-5pm

Overview:

• Prepares patient for visit with provider by completing Advanced Standard room process including entering the chief complaint; taking patient vital signs; reviewing patient history and allergies; completing a thorough medication reconciliation; working the Encounter Guide including helping to close any open care gaps such as fall risk, depression screening, breast cancer screening, colorectal cancer screening, and diabetic eye exams; rechecking elevated blood pressures; and completing needed documentation in Epic for yearly preventative visits as needed.
• Assists with any needed in-office testing including, but not limited to, drawing blood, completing mental status exams, EKG’s, walking oxygen studies and point of care testing.
• Administer vaccines and other injections within scope of practice.
• Schedules follow up appointments when needed per office policy.
• Collaborates with providers and clinical care team to monitor and coordinate delivery of the care plan.

Medical Assistant Qualifications:

• Medical Assistant
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED.
  • Certification: Must obtain BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
  • Preferred Experience: 6 months of clinical healthcare experience, preferably in a primary care office.
• Certified Medical Assistant
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED.
  • Certification: Must have active Medical Assistant certification/registration (RMA, CCMA, CMA) or EMT/Paramedic is also accepted. Must obtain BLS certification within 90 days of hire.

LPN Qualifications:

• Education: Graduate of an accredited Practical Nursing program.
• Licensure: Active LPN license in the state of practice.
• Experience: 6 months of clinical healthcare experience preferred, particularly in a primary care office.
