Job summary

San Diego State University seeks an engaged Program Director to lead the Pride Center and advance its mission of supporting LGBTQIA+ students’ belonging, well-being, leadership development, and academic success. Reporting to the Associate Chief Diversity Officer for Student Affairs, this role oversees the Center’s programs, staff, budget, facilities, and daily operations.

It advocates for students while working with faculty, departments, community partners, and external organizations.

Qualifications

• Equivalent to a four-year degree plus related graduate coursework in counseling techniques.
• About four years of professional student services experience advising students.
• A master's in counseling, psychology, social work, or related field; doctorate substitutions allowed.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Pride Center's daily operations and staff guidance.
• Develop programs and assessment practices to meet student needs.
• Oversee budget, purchasing, and compliance with university policies.
• Provide advocacy and mentorship to LGBTQIA+ students.
• Build collaborations across campus and with community partners.
• Represent the Pride Center in outreach and campus committees.
