Job summary

San Diego State University seeks a collaborative, student-centered Program Director to lead the Center for Intercultural Relations (CIR). This on-campus role focuses on belonging, leadership development, engagement, and retention for diverse students.

As a campus partner and resource to faculty, staff, and community partners, you will oversee programs, staff, and budget, build partnerships, mentor students, and advocate for inclusive programming that enhances student success.

Qualifications

• Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college with related course work.
• Four years of progressively responsible professional student services work experience including advising students individually and in groups.
• A master's degree may substitute for one year of experience; a doctorate may substitute for two years.

Responsibilities

• Oversee CIR’s programs, daily operations, staffing, budget, facilities, and resources while aligning with university priorities.
• Lead development, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of programs to support student belonging, leadership, academic success, engagement, and retention.
• Build and maintain collaborative relationships with campus departments, community organizations, alumni, and partners to expand student support resources.
• Mentor students, providing guidance, support, and referrals related to academic, personal, cultural, and well-being concerns.
• Represent CIR across campus and promote its programs through outreach, communications, and advocacy.
