Qualifications

• 3–5 years of Infection Prevention, Epidemiology, Public Health, or related healthcare experience.
• Experience with healthcare surveillance systems, infection prevention regulations, and quality improvement initiatives (preferred).
• Certification in Infection Control (CIC) within 2 years of hire (required).

Responsibilities

• Administer and coordinate the Infection Prevention and Control Program, including strategic planning, reporting, and action planning.
• Conduct surveillance, analysis, and reporting of healthcare-associated infections using hospital epidemiology principles.
• Monitor, analyze, and interpret microbiology and bacteriology reports to identify trends and recommend infection prevention measures.
• Investigate outbreaks, clusters of infections, and other infection prevention concerns to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
• Partner with Employee Health to support workforce safety and infection prevention initiatives.
• Develop and deliver infection prevention education and training for healthcare team members.
• Participate in Infection Prevention, Patient Safety, and multidisciplinary committees to support quality improvement initiatives.
• Develop and maintain infection prevention policies and procedures in compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards, including CDC, TJC, and state agencies.

Baptist Health is hiring an Infection Preventionist to join our Infection Prevention team at Baptist Jacksonville in Jacksonville, FL. This is a full-time, in-person day shift opportunity. The Infection Prevention team plays a vital role in protecting patients, team members, and the community by reducing the risk of healthcare-associated infections and promoting a culture of safety. This role is ideal for an experienced Infection Preventionist, Epidemiologist, or healthcare professional with a strong background in infection prevention, surveillance, and regulatory compliance who is passionate about improving patient outcomes through evidence-based practices.

Infection Preventionist Job Responsibilities

• Administer and coordinate the Infection Prevention and Control Program, including strategic planning, reporting, and action planning

• Develop and maintain infection prevention policies and procedures in compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards, including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), The Joint Commission (TJC), and state public health agencies
• Support organizational initiatives to reduce healthcare-associated infections and improve patient safety outcomes

Infection Preventionist Experience

• 3–5 years of Infection Prevention, Epidemiology, Public Health, or related healthcare experience
• Previous experience as an Infection Preventionist or Hospital Epidemiologist (preferred)
• Experience with healthcare surveillance systems, infection prevention regulations, and quality improvement initiatives (preferred)

Education & Credential Requirements

• Associate Degree (required)
• Bachelor's Degree (preferred)
• Registered Nurse (RN) (preferred)
• Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) (preferred)
• Master of Public Health (MPH) with a concentration in Epidemiology (preferred)
• Certification in Infection Control (CIC) through the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology (required within 2 years of hire)

Certification note: CIC and a-IPC certification will be required within 2 years of hire
