Role Description The Prevention Specialist is a full-time, on-site role located in Sumter, SC. This role focuses on planning, implementing, and evaluating prevention programs and initiatives that address behavioral health, substance use, and related risk factors within the community. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting outreach and educational sessions, coordinating workshops and events, and developing prevention materials for diverse audiences. The Prevention Specialist collaborates with internal clinical teams, schools, workplaces, and community organizations to promote safe, healthy behaviors and supportive environments. Additional duties include collecting and analyzing program data, maintaining accurate documentation, and ensuring compliance with organizational policies and relevant regulations.

Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess solid Analytical Skills to assess community needs, interpret program data, and evaluate prevention outcomes.
  • Candidates should possess Prevention-focused skills, including knowledge of behavioral health prevention strategies, evidence-based programs, and community education methods.
  • Candidates should possess familiarity with Occupational Health and Security practices to support safe, compliant environments during programs and events.
  • Additional beneficial qualifications include experience in behavioral health or public health settings, knowledge of local community resources, and proficiency with basic computer applications (e.g., word processing, presentation software).
  • Preferred education: Bachelor’s degree in public health, social work, psychology, counseling, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams, manage multiple priorities, and adapt to changing community needs.
