The Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board (H-NNCSB) is seeking a Prevention Specialist to join our team and help strengthen the health and well-being of individuals, families, and communities throughout Hampton and Newport News.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys community engagement, public education, collaboration, and making a measurable difference. You will develop and deliver evidence-based prevention and mental health promotion programs for youth and adults while working with community partners to address substance use and other behavioral health concerns.
You’ll have the opportunity to facilitate programs such as Mental Health First Aid, suicide prevention, and trauma and resilience education, while also supporting community strategies addressing underage drinking, tobacco use, opioid misuse, and other substance-related concerns.

Our team works with community partners to promote wellness, strengthen families, and improve access to services and support.
The selected candidate must successfully pass a criminal history fingerprint background investigation, DMV record check, Child Registry search, drug screening test and employment reference checks.
