Must work a minimum of 18 hours a week Monday - Friday.The department will accept up to the first 75 qualified applications.

Education & Experience

Graduation from high school or G.E.D. equivalent

• When assigned to Fire Prevention
  • Completion of Fire Inspector 1A, and 1B is highly desirable.

Application & Selection Process

Applications will be accepted until Mon, October 5, 2026, or until 75 applications have been received, whichever comes first.

The top candidates that successfully pass the screening process and are deemed to possess the most desirable qualifications may be invited to participate in a virtual HireVue interview. If a HireVue is conducted, candidates who successfully pass the HireVue will be invited for an in-person oral interview. The top scoring candidates from the oral interview will be placed on an eligibility list from which the department may hire. The eligibility list established from this recruitment may also be used to fill the current and/or additional vacancies throughout the City.

The successful candidate will be required to undergo a reference / background check including livescan and pass a pre‑employment medical examination (which will include a drug/alcohol screening).

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Applicants must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent Resident Alien meeting the requirements of Government Code Section 1031 (A) and 1031.5.

Certifications & Licenses

• A valid Class C California driver's license and the ability to maintain insurability under the City's vehicle insurance policy.
• Current CPR certification at the \"professional rescuer\" or \"healthcare provider\" level.

This position is FLSA Non-Exempt, eligible for overtime compensation.

THE ORGANIZATION

The City of Corona is a General Law city operating under a Council-Manager form of government. Policymaking and legislative authority is vested in the City Council, consisting of a Mayor and four Council Members. Members of the City Council are elected by District to a four-year term. The Mayor is selected by the Council and serves as the presiding officer for one year.

The City is organized into the following departments/organizational units: Community Services, City Manager’s Office, Economic Development, Finance, Fire, Human Resources, Information Technology, Legal and Risk Management, Police, Planning & Development, Public Works and Utilities. Oversight of these departments is divided between the City Manager and two Assistant City Managers.
