The Regulatory Compliance Specialist I/II (Flex) bridges both technical expertise and administrative coordination to help the City navigate complex environmental regulations. From organizing and overseeing water, wastewater, air quality, and hazardous materials sampling programs to reviewing lab results for accuracy and preparing key reports like NPDES, Consumer Confidence Reports, and discharge audits, this role ensures full compliance with federal, state, and local mandates. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:

• Equivalent to completion of the twelfth (12th) grade, supplemented by specialized training in water regulations, water and wastewater sampling, hazardous materials, air quality regulations, or a related field.

Regulatory Compliance Specialist I

• One (1) year of responsible office administration or technical experience.

Regulatory Compliance Specialist II

• With completion of the twelfth (12th) grade, Three (3) years of increasingly responsible experience in water, wastewater, and/or air quality sampling and reporting procedures and analytical methods.
• With an associate’s degree, Two (2) years of increasingly responsible experience in water, wastewater, and/or air quality sampling and reporting procedures and analytical methods.
• With a bachelor’s degree, one (1) year of increasingly responsible experience in water, wastewater, and/or air quality sampling and reporting procedures and analytical methods.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

• Possession of a valid California Driver’s License, to be maintained throughout employment.

THE ORGANIZATION

The City of Corona is a General Law city operating under a Council-Manager form of government. Policy making and legislative authority is vested in the City Council, consisting of a Mayor and four Council Members. Members of the City Council are elected by District to a four-year term. The Mayor is selected by the Council and serves as the presiding officer for one year.

The City is organized into the following departments/organizational units: Community Services, City Manager’s Office, Economic Development, Finance, Fire, Human Resources, Information Technology, Legal and Risk Management, Police, Planning & Development, Public Works, and Utilities. Oversight of these departments is divided between the City Manager and an Assistant City Manager.
