Job summary

Prostaffworkforce seeks a Preventative Maintenance Technician/Mechanic in Blue Mound, TX to maintain conveyors and industrial equipment. The role focuses on scheduled PM, diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults, and performing PLC-related tasks within a warehouse setting.

You will use CMMS to log work orders, follow lockout/tagout procedures, and support continuous operations across Friday to Sunday night shifts. Lift up to 75 lbs and read schematics are needed.

Preventative Maintenance Technician/Mechanic

Contract-to-Hire

Pay Rate: $22-24/hr

Schedule: Friday, Saturday & Sunday | 7 PM - 7:30 AM

Position Overview

Join a growing distribution and logistics operation that specializes in warehousing, material handling, and supply chain services. This facility relies on advanced conveyor systems and automated equipment to keep operations running efficiently, making maintenance a key part of the team’s success.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on conveyor systems (belts, rollers, motors, drives, sensors, guarding, lubrication points, etc.)
• Conduct facilities PM tasks — dock equipment, lighting, plumbing fixtures, and general building systems
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues on conveyor and facility equipment
• Perform basic troubleshooting and minor adjustments on PLC‑controlled systems (sensors, I/O, faults, resets)
• Complete PM checklists and work orders accurately and on schedule using the Office and CMMS
• Respond to and resolve unplanned equipment downtime during the shift
• Identify and report equipment conditions that may lead to future failures
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment; follow all lockout/tagout (LOTO) and safety procedures
• Coordinate with the outgoing/incoming shift and supervisor on open issues, parts needs, and handoff notes
• Maintain accurate parts usage and inventory records

Qualifications

• Working knowledge of electrical systems from 480V down to 120V (troubleshooting, safe isolation, basic repair)
• Solid mechanical aptitude – bearings, belts, chains, gearboxes, pneumatics, and general hand/power tool use
• Light knowledge of PLCs and controls (fault diagnosis, I/O troubleshooting, resetting/re‑homing equipment)
• Prior experience with conveyor systems or industrial material handling equipment preferred
• Ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical drawings a plus
• Comfortable working independently overnight with minimal supervision
• Strong troubleshooting mindset and attention to detail
• Basic computer skills for logging work orders in a CMMS
• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs, climb ladders, and work in an industrial warehouse environment
• Reliable attendance for the Fri/Sat/Sun overnight schedule

Preferred Qualifications

• 1–3+ years of industrial maintenance, electromechanical, or conveyor maintenance experience
• Exposure to Allen‑Bradley or similar PLC platforms (Rockwell/RSLogix, Siemens)
• Journeyman electrician training, technical school certification, or equivalent hands‑on experience
• Forklift/PIT certification (or willingness to obtain)
