Job summary

Priority Waste Resources in Wayne, Michigan, is hiring a Preventative Maintenance Mechanic to repair and maintain refuse vehicles and heavy equipment, including brakes, hydraulics, electrical, and engine systems. Qualifications

• Two years minimum experience as a heavy-duty technician.
• Ability to perform basic inspections of brakes, hydraulics, emissions, drivetrain, suspension and steering.
• Experience with maintenance on refuse trucks and heavy machinery is preferred.
• CDL is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Keeps up on maintenance of vehicles and equipment.
• Performs engine repair and maintenance.
• Performs welding and fabrication.
• Scans trucks and troubleshoots mechanical issues using electronic tools.
• Performs electrical repairs.
• Assists with DOT inspections.
• Completes oil changes and greasing trucks/equipment.
• Repairs tires, including replacement when necessary.
• Performs preventative maintenance on vehicles to enable minimal downtime.
• Safely executes road service calls when necessary to ensure the equipment is being returned in a safe manner.
• Troubleshoots emissions issues.
• Actively problem solves.
• Executes work orders and submits to Maintenance Supervisor for records.

Job Purpose

In your role as a Preventative Maintenance Mechanic, you will perform repairs and maintenance on refuse vehicles and heavy machinery including, but not limited to: vehicle refuse bodies and control systems, air brake systems, suspension, steering, suspension, hydraulics, electrical, general engine work, HVAC components, drivetrain, and chassis components.

• Performs electrical repairs
• Assists with DOT inspections

Qualifications

• Commercial Driver's License is a plus but not required
• Understands work orders and labor time standards
• Experience with maintenance to be performed on refuse trucks and heavy machinery
• ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) Certifications are a plus but not required
• Minimum two years experience as a heavy-duty technician
• Must be able to perform basic inspections of the following: brakes, drivetrain, emissions, hydraulics, emissions, transmissions, general engine, steering and suspension
