Job summary

Priority Waste Resources in Romulus, MI is seeking a Preventative Maintenance Mechanic to repair and maintain refuse vehicles and heavy machinery, including brakes, hydraulics, electrical systems, HVAC, and drivetrain. You will diagnose issues with electronic tools, perform oil changes, inspections, tire repairs, and ensure road service readiness while recording maintenance in the supervisor's logs.

Two years of heavy-duty technician experience is required; CDL is a plus; ASE certifications are

Qualifications

• Minimum two years experience as a heavy-duty technician
• Experience with maintenance to be performed on refuse trucks and heavy machinery
• Commercial Driver's License is a plus but not required
• ASE Certifications are a plus but not required
• Ability to perform basic inspections of brakes, drivetrain, emissions, hydraulics, emissions, transmissions, general engine, steering and suspension

Responsibilities

• Keeps up on maintenance of vehicles and equipment
• Performs engine repair and maintenance
• Performs welding and fabrication
• Scans trucks and troubleshoots mechanical issues using electronic tools
• Performs electrical repairs
• Assists with DOT inspections
• Completes oil changes and greasing trucks/equipment
• Repairs tires, including replacement when necessary
• Performs preventative maintenance on vehicles to enable minimal downtime
• Safely executes road service calls when necessary to ensure the equipment is being returned in a safe manner
• Troubleshoots emissions issues
• Actively problem solves
• Executes work orders and turns into Maintenance Supervisor for company records

Job Purpose

In your role as a Preventative Maintenance Mechanic, you will perform repairs and maintenance on refuse vehicles and heavy machinery including, but not limited to: vehicle refuse bodies and control systems, air brake systems, suspension, steering, suspension, hydraulics, electrical, general engine work, HVAC components, drivetrain, and chassis components.
