Job summary

Priority Waste Resources LLC is seeking a Heavy Duty Machinery Mechanic to repair and maintain refuse vehicles and heavy equipment at our Hamtramck, MI location. Responsibilities include engine work, air systems, hydraulics, electrical, HVAC, drivetrain and chassis components, with emphasis on safety and efficiency.

The role requires at least two years of heavy-duty technician experience, ability to read work orders, and readiness for an afternoon shift.

Qualifications

• CDL is a plus but not required.
• Understands work orders and labor time standards.
• Experience with maintenance on refuse trucks and heavy machinery.
• ASE certifications are a plus but not required.
• Minimum two years experience as a heavy-duty technician.
• Must be able to perform basic inspections of brakes, drivetrain, emissions, hydraulics, transmissions, general engine, steering and suspension.
• Must be able to work afternoon shift.

Responsibilities

• Keeps up on maintenance of vehicles and equipment.
• Performs engine repair and maintenance.
• Performs welding and fabrication.
• Scans trucks and troubleshoots mechanical issues using electronic tools.
• Performs electrical repairs.
• Assists with DOT inspections.
• Completes oil changes and greasing trucks/equipment.
• Repairs tires, including replacement when necessary.
• Performs preventative maintenance on vehicles to enable minimal downtime.
• Safely executes road service calls to ensure equipment is returned safely.
• Troubleshoots emissions issues.
• Actively problem solves.
• Executes work orders and turns into Maintenance Supervisor for company records.

Job Purpose

In your role as a Heavy Duty Machinery Mechanic, you will perform repairs and maintenance on refuse vehicles and heavy machinery including, but not limited to: vehicle refuse bodies and control systems, air brake systems, suspension, steering, suspension, hydraulics, electrical, general engine work, HVAC components, drivetrain, and chassis components.

• Commercial Driver's License is a plus but not required
• Understands work orders and labor time standards
• Experience with maintenance to be performed on refuse trucks and heavy machinery
• ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) Certifications are a plus but not required
• Minimum two years experience as a heavy-duty technician
• Must be able to perform basic inspections of the following: brakes, drivetrain, emissions, hydraulics, emissions, transmissions, general engine, steering and suspension
• Must be able to work afternoon shift
