Job summary

The Alaska Department of Corrections, Division of Pretrial, Probation and Parole, seeks a Pretrial Services Officer 1/2 for the Palmer office. You will assess and supervise adult defendants on pretrial status, perform risk assessments, and monitor release conditions set by the court.

Training provided in a supportive, mission-driven environment. Entry-level roles emphasize analysis, adaptability, and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in any field.
• Or substitution: Four years of paraprofessional experience in probation, parole, pretrial, criminal justice, juvenile justice, social services, corrections, criminal investigation, public safety or law enforcement.
• Advancement to higher levels requires training per APSC and supervisor certification.
• Must be 21+ and a U.S. citizen or national; valid driver's license; firearms qualification.

Responsibilities

• Assess and supervise adult defendants on pretrial status.
• Perform risk assessments and monitor conditions of release.
• Provide referrals for services and conduct field/home contacts.
• Conduct drug/alcohol screening and electronic monitoring where required.
• Report concerns and updates to the court.
