Job summary

New York City Criminal Justice Agency (CJA) is hiring Pretrial Associates to interview arrestees and help determine release recommendations in Central Booking locations. This role supports the court process and aims to reduce detention where possible, with a strong emphasis on communication and data accuracy.

applicants should have an Associate degree or equivalent experience, excellent verbal and written communication, and solid computer skills.

Qualifications

• Associate degree preferred with one year of work experience; two years equivalent experience also welcomed.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
• Computer literacy including Microsoft applications is essential.

Responsibilities

• Interview recently arrested individuals in Central Booking to assess community ties.
• Record interview responses accurately in the agency database.
• Explain bail procedures and assist with the bail payment process.
• Coordinate with court partners and programs to expedite bail handling.
