Job summary

Par Pacific Holdings, Inc. in Billings, Montana is seeking a Safety Relief Engineer to lead and perform pressure relief system analyses and contribute to PSPPM studies supporting refinery projects.

Reporting to the Process Engineering Supervisor, you will assess risk, size PSV via API 520/521, manage SRR docs, and collaborate with business teams to prioritize mitigations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or higher.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in oil, gas, or petrochemicals.
• Experience with flare modeling tools (PPM, Visual Flow/Flare, FlareNet).
• Experience with steady state process simulators (PROII, HYSYS).
• Familiarity with OSHA PSM and relief system design concepts (API 520/521).
• Knowledge of process design fundamentals for safety (overpressure, PSV sizing, valve sizing).
• Strong communication and analytical skills with ability to influence others.

Responsibilities

• Lead and/or perform pressure relief system analyses for projects and site activities.
• Deliver PSPPM studies and practical solutions for safety relief systems.
• Assist with risk-based decisions from relief study recommendations.
• Evaluate change proposals for impact on SRR documentation.
