Job summary

Howmet Aerospace Inc. is seeking a Press Technician for our new core plant in Whitehall, MI. This off-shift role covers 2nd, 3rd, or weekend shifts, and involves troubleshooting press forming issues and contributing to continuous improvements.

The candidate should have a high school diploma or GED, at least two years of manufacturing experience (or six months continuous), and be authorized to work in the United States. PLC and forming ceramics knowledge is a plus.

• Minimum of two years manufacturing experience, or six months continuous manufacturing experience.
• U.S. work authorization; visa sponsorship not available.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and solve forming issues at the press.
• Assist with continuous improvements and support the cell chain of help.
• Check overall quality of core jobs and enter data when applicable.
• Understand PLC controlled presses and forming ceramics.
• Review dies to verify conformity and function before setup.
• Notify supervisor of die problems that may affect schedule.
• Assist in training new setup techs and press operators.
• Review and update coating inspection records.

Responsibilities

Press Technicianposition will be located in our new core plant in Whitehall, MI. This is an off-shift role: 2nd, 3rd or weekend shift. Primary responsibilities will include:

• Troubleshoot and problem solve forming issues at the press
• Aids in implementing continuous improvements and is a valuable link in the cell help chain.
• Check overall quality of core jobs
• Enter data into computer if applicable
• Good understanding of PLC controlled presses
• Good understanding of forming ceramics
• Review dies to verify conformity/functionality pior to setup
• Notify supervisor or injection specialist of any die problems that may affect schedule
• Troubleshoot forming issues
• Assist in training and development of new set up techs and press operators
• Review and update coating inspection records

Qualifications

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
• Minimum of two years work experience; or six months continuous manufacturing experience.
• Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Injection molding or forming experience
• Manufacturing experience
• Previous experience in electronics, vacuum furnaces, and manufacturing process troubleshooting.
• Strong mechanical aptitude as well as proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel a plus
