Job summary

Howmet Aerospace Inc. in Whitehall, MI is seeking a Press Technician for our new core plant. This off‑shift role (2nd, 3rd or weekend) focuses on troubleshooting forming issues, die/gauge handling, and supporting continuous improvements within the cell.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED and at least two years of work experience or six months of manufacturing experience. Preferred: injection molding or forming experience, plus basic Word/Excel skills.

Responsibilities

Press Technician position will be located in our new core plant in Whitehall, MI. This is an off-shift role: 2nd, 3rd or weekend shift. Primary responsibilities will include:

  • Troubleshoot and problem solve forming issues at the press
  • Manage die/gauge storage area
  • Aids in implementing continuous improvements and is a valuable link in the cell help chain.
  • Check overall quality of core jobs
  • Enter data into computer if applicable
  • Good understanding of PLC controlled presses
  • Good understanding of forming ceramics
  • Assists production planning in press/die compatibility
  • Review dies to verify conformity/functionality pior to setup
  • Notify supervisor or injection specialist of any die problems that may affect schedule
  • Troubleshoot forming issues
  • Assist in training and development of new set up techs and press operators
  • Review and update coating inspection records
Qualifications

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of two years work experience; or six months continuous manufacturing experience.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Injection molding or forming experience
  • Manufacturing experience
  • Previous experience in electronics, vacuum furnaces, and manufacturing process troubleshooting.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude as well as proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel a plus
