Job summary

Howmet Aerospace is seeking an Injection Press Specialist for our Whitehall Core Plant to perform forming-process duties and support engineering projects and yield improvements in ceramic cores for aerospace applications.

The role involves data-driven reporting, engineering trials, root-cause analysis, and collaboration with manufacturing, quality, and maintenance to maintain production flow and tooling integrity.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent manufacturing experience (3 yrs).
  • US legal work authorization; visa sponsorship not available at hire.

Responsibilities

  • Review scrap and productivity losses; prepare reports and action plans.
  • Conduct engineering trials under guidance of engineers.
  • Support root-cause analysis and corrective actions for quality, cost, and delivery.
  • Respond to level 3 help chains to reinstate production flow.
  • Coordinate dimensional/core/gauge issues with multiple departments.
  • Assist with core tooling issues and assembly/disassembly of tooling.
  • Support EHS improvements related to tooling and equipment operation.
  • Train press technicians and operators; perform duties safely.

This Injection Press Specialist role will be located in our new Whitehall Core Plant. This role will perform technical duties related to forming processes and process management including support of engineering projects and yield improvement initiatives as they relate to the manufacture of ceramic cores for the aerospace industry.

  • Perform daily review of product or process related scrap and productivity losses by utilizing the data to prepare reports and develop a plan to address identified yield or productivity issues.
  • Perform engineering trials under the guidance of an individual engineer or engineering team.
  • Assist Engineering with root cause analysis and corrective/preventative actions related to quality, cost, delivery, and product integrity.
  • Respond to level 3 help chains to reinstate production flow in the injection departments
  • Work with dimensional on issues related to core dimensions, PM301s, studies, etc.
  • Work with layout on gauge or cores gauging issues.
  • Work with C3D on core and tooling related issues.
  • Assure product compliance to customer requirements.
  • Assist manufacturing and quality on engineering or technical issues that arise.
  • Compile and analyze product data using statistical process control methods and generate associated engineering reports.
  • Support engineering with developing and maintaining activity instructions and product or process specifications / criteria.
  • Able to assemble/disassemble auxiliary tooling (press setters and various fixtures).
  • Work with Tool Room, maintenance, dimensional, layout and other departments as necessary on core or tooling issues
  • Support EHS improvement initiatives as required relating to tooling, fixturing, and in some cases equipment and equipment operation.
  • Conduct the training of press technicians and press operators
  • Perform job duties in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Perform other work-related duties as necessary.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in an engineering discipline OR experience in as follows: Minimum 3 years' experience in a related manufacturing environment such as injection molding, forming, die setting OR 2 years of related Howmet Experience.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PC literate in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Familiarity with Access, Microsoft Office and Mini-Tab.
  • Experience working in a layout environment and/or working with CAD / Unigraphics.
