Job summary

Toledo Tool & Die, based in Pioneer, Ohio, is hiring for a full-time Press Operator to support growth. The role involves starting and supervising machines, recording production data, loading pieces, and inspecting for defects to ensure conformance with specs and tolerances.

Emphasis on safety, reliability, and teamwork in a fast-paced shop environment. Candidates should be 18+, have a HS diploma or equivalent, and be able to work overtime, including weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• Experience in a factory environment is beneficial but not required.

• Ability to read and follow production instructions and measurements.

Responsibilities

• Start machines, monitor operation, record data for material tracking and piece counts.
• Operate or tend machines to saw, cut, shear, slit, punch, crimp, notch, bend, or straighten metal.
• Load work pieces into machines.
• Inspect finished pieces for defects and sort by flaw type.
• Read production schedules and verify materials meet customer specs and tolerances.
• Measure finished parts using calipers, micrometers, gauge blocks, and dial indicators.
• Assist with coil and die changes and related tasks.
• Maintain clean, safe work areas and comply with safety rules.
• Authorized to stop production if unsafe conditions are observed.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor/manager.

Hours for this position are typically:

• 2nd Shift: 2:00pm-10:00pm

Must be available to work overtime (daily, weekends & some holidays).

Key Responsibilities

• Start machines, monitor their operation to ensure it is processing properly, and record operational data for material tracking and record number of pieces produced with other documentation to run the machine.
• Operate, or tend machines to saw, cut, shear, slit, punch, crimp, notch, bend, or straighten metal material.
• Load work pieces into machines.
• Examine and inspect completed work pieces for defects, such as chipped edges or marred surfaces and sort defective pieces according to types of flaws.
• Read production schedules to determine specifications, such as materials to be used to be compliant with customer specifications relative to dimensions and tolerances.
• Verify and document dimensions of finished parts for conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments, including but not limited to calipers, gauge blocks, micrometers, and dial indicators.
• Assist in completing simple to intermediate tasks associated with coil and die changes.
• Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
• Authority to stop production in the event unsafe parts or conditions appear.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the immediate Supervisor and/or Manager, which may be outside the scope of responsibilities noted above.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Eligible to work in the United States.
• Must be able to satisfactorily complete pre-employment screening (background check and drug screen).
• Identified candidates must be able to work overtime (daily, weekends and holidays).
• Experience operating large industrial equipment is preferred.
• Must be able to work in a dynamic and fast paced environment.
• Report to work on time to support production startup.Possess good physical stamina and coordination.
• Must be able to stand, stoop, kneel, crouch or climb for extended periods of time.
• Must be able to lift/push/pull objects that are up to 50 pounds.
• Work as a team, good communication skills, basic math skills, physical dexterity.
