Job summary

R&B Wagner, Inc. is seeking a Press Operator B to set up, adjust, and operate multiple punch presses and drill/tap equipment on a diversified product line. You will move sheet and coil stock via overhead crane or forklift, and ensure accurate data entry in the production system.

The role requires attention to quality and safety, with responsibilities expanding as needed. Under supervision by the Team Leader, Supervisor, or Manager in-charge, you will perform setups, checks, and adjustments,

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Trade school coursework or sanctioned apprenticeship is typically expected.
  • 2–5 years of related experience.
  • Mechanical aptitude.

Responsibilities

  • Operate press after setup, including presses with automatic feeds.
  • Align and secure dice, set stop gauges, stripper, knockout, ejecting, and safety devices on drills and presses.
  • Set and adjust mechanical and servo feeders in accordance with stroke cycles.
  • Unload sheet and coil from trucks using overhead crane or forklift.
  • Inspect raw materials and ensure quality inspection paperwork is complete and data entered into the system.
  • Assist with setups and safety devices on punch presses and drill & tap equipment.
  • Suggest adjustments to feeders per stroke cycles.
  • Check first runs and subsequent pieces with measuring tools.
  • Follow safety directions related to operation and material handling.
  • Maintain 5-S and a safe work environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job description

Available Schedules: Second Shift: Monday - Friday; 3:30 PM - 12:00 AM

Second Shift Premium: $5.00/hour second shift premium available for full-time roles!

Summary

Under the supervision of the Team Leader, Supervisor, or Manager in-charge, the Press Operator B sets-up, adjusts, prepares, and operates multiple punch presses and drill & tap machines within the department, on a diversified line of products having close dimension, contour, or other requirements. The Press Operator B will have the ability to, manually or by overhead crane or forklift, move sheet and coil stock to storage racks, workstations, or moves finished parts to next operation, or obtain assistance with doing so.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

This list of functions and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time.

  1. Operate press after set-up is complete, including presses utilizing automatic feeds.
  2. Align and secure dice, set stop gauges, stripper, knockout, ejecting, and safety devices on drill and punch presses, including hydraulic.
  3. Set and adjust mechanical grip feeders and servo feeders in accordance with stroke cycles
  4. Unload incoming sheet and coil from open and closed trucks using overhead crane or forklift.
  5. Inspect raw materials and ensure completion of quality inspection paperwork and timely and accurate entry of data into the current business operating system.
  6. Assists with set ups, set stop gauges, stripper, knockout, ejecting, and safety devices on punch presses and drill & tap equipment.
  7. Suggests adjustment to mechanical grip feeders and servo feeders in accordance with stroke cycles.
  8. Check first runs and subsequent pieces, using measuring equipment, gages or samples.
  9. Follows direction regarding job hazards associated with operation and material handling.
  10. Maintain an organized work environment based on 5-S principles; Sort, Scrub, Standardize, Set in Order and Sustain.
  11. Maintain a safe working environment.
  12. Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience
  1. Level of education usually acquired through completion of high school.
  2. Trade's school coursework or sanctioned apprenticeship in support of employment initiatives is typically expected
  3. 2-5 years of related experience

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  1. Ability to accurately scan labor, verify labor, and provide for corrections.
  2. Ability to-when applicable-operate overhead crane, aerial lift, forklift, hand trucks, and assigned machines.
  3. Ability to measure (using ruler, tapes, height gauge, micrometer) and count accurately.
  4. Ability to identify material sizes, lengths, dimensions, metal type, etc.
  5. Ability to read and write English, follow verbal and written instructions and perform basic math, including adding, subtracting and multiplying fractions.
  6. Ability to work independently and prioritize work with moderate supervision.
  7. Knowledge of punch press tooling and dies, or ability to obtain such via OJT training

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
