Job summary

General Motors Africa & Middle East is launching a Press Manufacturing Engineer Development Program designed to train for 2 years to become a Press Manufacturing Engineer. You will learn press mechanics, maintain and repair equipment, and lead teams to improve performance and reliability.

The role is onsite and may require long hours during equipment failures, with travel up to 25%. Relocation benefits are available for qualifying candidates, and the program emphasizes safety and quality

Qualifications

• 1+ years experience in a Press related Manufacturing environment or related experience.
• Knowledge of mechanics, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
• Understanding of engineering theory, manufacturing methods, and equipment operation principles.

Responsibilities

• Partner with controls engineering, IT, suppliers, and HQ press group to maintain / repair stamping presses / equipment.
• Analyze existing systems and identify opportunities to improve accuracy, reliability, speed, and overall performance.
• Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective actions related to press and automation system issues.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues involving equipment, machinery, and automation systems.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance manufacturing efficiency, quality, and cost performance.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation related to equipment.

This means the successful candidate is expected to report at the listed location on a full-time basis.**The Role:**Enter into a Press Manufacturing Engineer Development Program for 2 years to prepare for the position of Press Manufacturing Engineer. In this 2-year development program you will learn the mechanics of our presses and how to maintain / repair them. You will then lead team members & group leaders to maintain & repair the presses as well as improve the equipment & processes with innovative ideas. In this role, you will work to optimize the safety & quality of maintaining our presses to maintain & improve performance and reliability of our equipment.This role is planned to be predominately a day shift role, but in times of need for equipment repairs, training others or assisting with management of people on other shifts will be required at times. The position will require long hours mainly in the times of equipment failures to repair the equipment.You will partner closely with plant trades people, plant leaders, headquarters press engineering group, suppliers, & controls engineers to problems solve, find improved solutions & implement read across solutions from other facilities. This role requires strong technical judgment, hands-on problem solving.**What You’ll Do:*** Partner with controls engineering, IT, suppliers, and HQ press group to maintain / repair the stamping presses / equipment in your facility.* Analyze existing systems and identify opportunities to improve accuracy, reliability, speed, and overall performance.* Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective actions related to press and automation system issues.* Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues involving equipment, machinery, and automation systems.* Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance manufacturing efficiency, quality, and cost performance.* Develop and maintain technical documentation related to equipment.* Support training for production and plant personnel on the operation and maintenance of press and automation systems.* Work with internal partners and external suppliers to implement cost reduction strategies and manufacturing improvements. **Required Qualifications:*** 1+ years experience in a Press related Manufacturing environment or related experience* Knowledge of mechanics, hydraulics, and pneumatics.* Understanding of engineering theory, manufacturing methods, and equipment operation principles.* Proficiency with Microsoft tools.* Experience using CAD and engineering systems.* Strong problem-solving skills, initiative, and ability to work effectively in ambiguous situations.* High level of integrity and ability to work independently as well with teams.* **Ability to travel 25% of the time*** **Ability to work any shift** **Preferred Qualifications:*** Bachelors of Science in Engineering preferred.* Experience developing and maintaining machinery.* Hands-on experience operating and troubleshooting industrial machinery or automation systems.GM does not provide immigration-related sponsorship for this role.
