Job summary

General Motors Africa & Middle East in Arlington, TX is seeking a candidate for a 2-year Press Manufacturing Engineer Development Program to prepare for the Press Manufacturing Engineer role. You will learn the mechanics of our presses and how to maintain / repair them, then lead teams to maintain and improve equipment and processes.

The role emphasizes safety, quality, and reliability, with opportunities to collaborate with plant trades, HQ press group, suppliers, and controls engineers.

Qualifications

• 1+ years experience in a Press related Manufacturing environment or related experience
• Knowledge of mechanics, hydraulics, and pneumatics
• Understanding of engineering theory, manufacturing methods, and equipment operation principles
• Proficiency with Microsoft tools
• Experience using CAD and engineering systems
• Strong problem-solving skills, initiative, and ability to work effectively in ambiguous situations
• High level of integrity and ability to work independently as well with teams
• Ability to travel 25% of the time
• Ability to work any shift

Responsibilities

• Partner with controls engineering, IT, suppliers, and HQ press group to maintain / repair the stamping presses / equipment in your facility.
• Analyze existing systems and identify opportunities to improve accuracy, reliability, speed, and overall performance.
• Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective actions related to press and automation system issues.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues involving equipment, machinery, and automation systems.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance manufacturing efficiency, quality, and cost performance.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation related to equipment.
• Support training for production and plant personnel on the operation and maintenance of press and automation systems.
• Work with internal partners and external suppliers to implement cost reduction strategies and manufacturing improvements.
