MARENGO TOOL & DIE WORKS, INC. is seeking a Punch Press Operator to operate and monitor pre-set punch press equipment to produce metal parts according to specifications. The role does not require setup or die changes, but maintaining product quality and safety is essential.

You will review work orders, load materials, start/stop the machine, inspect parts with gauges, document production, and work with others to meet quality and output goals in a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Experience in manufacturing or machine operation preferred.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Basic math and measuring skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality.

Responsibilities

  • Operate mechanical or hydraulic punch press equipment that has been set up by authorized personnel.
  • Review work orders and follow established operating instructions.
  • Load material into the press and remove completed parts safely.
  • Start, stop, and monitor the machine during production.
  • Inspect finished parts for visible defects and verify quality using approved gauges or measuring tools.
  • Separate and report defective or nonconforming parts.
  • Notify designated personnel when machine adjustments, die changes, or repairs are needed.
  • Complete production, scrap, quality, and downtime records accurately.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
  • Follow all machine-guarding, lockout/tagout, and personal protective equipment requirements.
  • Meet established production and quality standards.
  • Assist with material handling, packaging, and other production duties as assigned.
  • Report unsafe conditions and equipment malfunctions immediately.

The Punch Press Operator operates and monitors previously set-up punch press equipment to produce metal parts according to specifications. This position does not perform machine setup or die changes. The operator is responsible for maintaining product quality, meeting production requirements, and following all safety procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Operate mechanical or hydraulic punch press equipment that has been set up by authorized personnel.
  • Review work orders and follow established operating instructions.
  • Load material into the press and remove completed parts safely.
  • Start, stop, and monitor the machine during production.

Physical Requirements
  • Regularly stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Frequently use hands and arms to handle materials and operate machine controls.
  • Regularly lift and carry up to 50 pounds, with assistance when required.
  • Frequently bend, reach, push, pull, and perform repetitive movements.
  • Ability to work around moving machinery, metal materials, noise, oils, and varying temperatures.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and safety-toe footwear.

Work is performed primarily in a manufacturing environment. The employee may be exposed to moving mechanical equipment, sharp metal edges, elevated noise levels, oils, and airborne particles. Required safety procedures and personal protective equipment must be used at all times.
