Job summary

Gulf Island in the United States seeks a Press Brake Operator to operate a press brake in our fabrication shop, bending and forming sheet metal for generator enclosures and related projects.

You will read blueprints, select tooling, verify tolerances with measurement tools, and maintain equipment while ensuring safety and teamwork in an outdoor industrial setting.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of experience operating a press brake.
• Read tape measure and blueprints with accuracy.
• Must pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Must be able to work outdoors in varying conditions.

Responsibilities

• Operate press brake machines to bend, form or punch metal per specifications.
• Read blueprints, work orders, SOPs and measurement tools to ensure accuracy.
• Select tooling and dies for each job and adjust as needed.
• Inspect parts during production to verify conformance to specifications.
• Monitor machines to ensure optimum running and safe operation.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area and report mechanical issues.

Description

Main Purpose:

The Press Brake Operator is responsible for operating the press brake within our fabrication shop. This role provides bent and formed material for the pre-fabrication of generator enclosures within the manufacturing environment.

Essential Functions:

• Set up, adjust and operate press brake machines to bend, form or punch sheet metal according to blueprints and specifications
• Read and interpret technical drawings, work orders, blueprints, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and measurement tools to ensure accuracy
• Select proper tooling and dies for each job and perform adjustments as needed
• Inspect parts during and after production to verify conformance to specifications
• Monitor machines during every procedure to ensure optimum running
• Maintain equipment by performing basic troubleshooting, cleaning and reporting mechanical issues
• Follow established safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area
• Collaborate with team members to meet production schedules and deadlines
• Perform other duties assigned by supervisor

Requirements

Physical Requirements:

• Standing, sitting, walking, stooping, kneeling, climbing, feeling, talking, hearing and seeing
• Turning, twisting, bending and balancing
• Pushing, pulling and reaching
• Must be able to lift and / or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally 50-75 pounds

Job Requirements:

• 1+ years experience operating a press brake
• Must be able to read a tape measure
• Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen and physical
• Must be able to pass a background check

Desirable Experience, Education and Training:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Previous experience operating a press brake for the production of generator enclosures or other various enclosures

Tools, Equipment and Technology:

• Press brake, tape measure, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) etc.

Environmental Conditions:

80 to 90% of the work activities are performed outdoors. Individuals will be required to work in changes of temperature, hot, cold, humid, wet and dry conditions, dust, mud etc. They will also be exposed to paint thinner and paint fumes.
