Job summary

Gulf Island is seeking aMachine Operator to operate the plasma cutter and assist with the press brake and shear cutter in our fabrication shop. You will read blueprints, set up tooling, inspect parts, and help meet production schedules while maintaining a clean, safe work area.

Outdoor work conditions comprise most of the role, and employees follow established safety procedures. Prior experience with metal fabrication is preferred.

Qualifications

• 1+ years experience operating a plasma cutter.
• Ability to read blueprints and work orders.
• Must read a tape measure and verify dimensions.
• Able to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.

Responsibilities

• Set up, adjust and operate plasma cutting machines to cut sheet metal per specs.
• Set up, adjust and operate press brake and shear cutter as required.
• Read drawings and use measurement tools to ensure accuracy.
• Inspect parts during production and ensure conformance to specs.
• Maintain equipment and report mechanical issues.
• Collaborate with team to meet production schedules.
