Job summary

Gulf Island is seeking a Press Brake Operator for its fabrication shop to produce bent and formed sheet metal for generator enclosures. You will read blueprints, set up tooling, adjust equipment and inspect outputs to meet specifications.

Responsibilities include ensuring safety and cleanliness, collaborating with teammates to hit production goals, and reporting issues promptly. Candidate should have 1+ year of press brake experience and be able to pass drug, safety and background checks.

Qualifications

• 1+ years experience operating a press brake
• Able to read a tape measure
• Pass pre-employment drug screen and physical
• Pass a background check
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Experience operating a press brake for generator enclosures or similar

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret drawings, orders and SOPs to ensure accuracy
• Select tooling and dies and perform adjustments as needed
• Inspect parts during and after production for spec conformance
• Monitor machines during each operation to ensure optimum running
• Maintain equipment by troubleshooting, cleaning and reporting issues
• Follow safety procedures and keep work area clean and organized
• Collaborate with team to meet production schedules
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor

Description

Main Purpose:

The Press Brake Operator is responsible for operating the press brake within our fabrication shop. This role provides bent and formed material for the pre-fabrication of generator enclosures within the manufacturing environment.

Essential Functions:

• Set up, adjust and operate press brake machines to bend, form or punch sheet metal according to blueprints and specifications
• Read and interpret technical drawings, work orders, blueprints, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and measurement tools to ensure accuracy
• Select proper tooling and dies for each job and perform adjustments as needed
• Inspect parts during and after production to verify conformance to specifications
• Monitor machines during every procedure to ensure optimum running
• Maintain equipment by performing basic troubleshooting, cleaning and reporting mechanical issues
• Follow established safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area
• Collaborate with team members to meet production schedules and deadlines
• Perform other duties assigned by supervisor

Requirements

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to lift and / or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally 50-75 pounds

Job Requirements:

Desirable Experience, Education and Training:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Previous experience operating a press brake for the production of generator enclosures or other various enclosures

Tools, Equipment and Technology:

• Press brake, tape measure, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) etc.

Environmental Conditions:

80 to 90% of the work activities are performed outdoors. Individuals will be required to work in changes of temperature, hot, cold, humid, wet and dry conditions, dust, mud etc. They will also be exposed to paint thinner and paint fumes.
