Job summary

Forkeys Construction & Fabrication in Cortland, NY is seeking a skilled Press Brake Operator to join our production team. You will set up, adjust, and operate press brake equipment, read blueprints, and ensure parts meet tight tolerances while following safety procedures.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience operating press brake machines in a manufacturing or metal fabrication environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Proficiency in using measuring instruments such as micrometers and calipers.
  • Strong understanding of sheet metal properties and bending techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate press brake machines to bend and form sheet metal parts according to blueprints and work orders.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications to determine the correct bending sequence and tooling requirements.
  • Perform precise measurements using micrometers and other measuring tools to ensure parts meet dimensional tolerances.
  • Conduct deburring and finishing operations to remove sharp edges and prepare parts for assembly or shipment.
  • Handle materials safely and efficiently, including loading and unloading sheet metal stock and finished components.
  • Maintain press brake equipment by performing routine inspections and minor adjustments to ensure optimal performance.
  • Collaborate with quality control personnel to identify and resolve any issues related to part accuracy or defects.
  • Adhere to all safety guidelines and company policies to maintain a safe working environment.
