Summary of Duties and Responsibilities

Operate and set up press brake machines to bend and form metals to meet customer specification.

Required Schedule:

We are seeking either a first shift or 2nd shift operator

1st Shift: Monday-Friday 7am-3pm

2nd Shift: Monday-Thursday 3pm-1am

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate press brake machines according to job specifications, including selecting and installing proper tooling, programming machine parameters, and verifying setup accuracy.
  • Review work orders, blueprints, and job instructions to determine setup requirements, bend sequences, tolerances, and quality standards.
  • Confer with supervisors, set-up personnel, and team members regarding job requirements, machine setup, and critical dimensions to maintain.
  • Perform back gauge calibration, verify machine settings, and reset production counters as required.
  • Run and inspect first-piece samples, ensuring compliance with specifications, and submit parts to quality inspection or a certified operator for approval.
  • Make machine and program adjustments as necessary after first-piece approval, seeking assistance when required, and proceed with production runs.
  • Monitor machine performance throughout production and make corrections to maintain quality, efficiency, and dimensional accuracy.
  • Use precision measuring instruments to verify specified dimensions and record results on SPC charts to monitor product and process quality.
  • Troubleshoot setup, tooling, and production issues to minimize downtime and maintain production schedules.
  • Complete all required production documentation, quality records, and operational paperwork accurately.
  • Perform routine equipment inspections and basic preventive maintenance to ensure safe and reliable machine operation.
  • Maintain work areas, machines, and tooling in a clean, organized, and safe condition.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent. Requires minimum of 6 months to 2 years press brake experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Must be able to read and interpret complex blueprints, engineering drawings, and work instructions, and perform advanced mathematical calculations related to bending, angles, dimensions, and tolerances.
  • Advanced knowledge of press brake machine operation, setup, tooling selection, and programming, with the ability to independently set up press brake machines for production runs.
  • Ability to install and align tooling, configure machine parameters, calibrate back gauges, verify bend sequences, and perform first-piece inspections to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting press brake machine issues, tooling problems, and part-quality concerns, making necessary adjustments to maintain production efficiency and product quality.
  • Skilled in the use of quality inspection equipment, including calipers, protractors, micrometers, height gauges, and other precision measuring instruments.
  • Ability to accurately inspect parts, verify dimensions against blueprint requirements, and maintain quality standards throughout the production process.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, communicate effectively, and accurately complete production and quality documentation.
Working Conditions
  • Constant exposure to one or more elements typically found in a manufacturing setting such as noise, dust, heat, fumes or dirt, which may not be desirable. Exposure to noise requires the use of hearing protection.

  • None
Decision-Making / Confidentiality
  • Requires continuous mental / visual application. Little or no independent judgment and decision making within Company policies to resolve operational problems and to determine manufacturing processes and procedures.
  • Limited exposure to confidential data such as product design information and work center rates.
