ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Follow all company and work center–specific production, administration and safety policies and procedures.
  • Attend and actively participate in all required training.
  • Review manufacturing planning, part‑specific engineering information and/or related instructions to understand appropriate work process and quality requirements for completed product.
  • For machine‑dependent operations, select, align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories and material to machines (set‑up machine) and start and observe machine operation during first‑part production to detect malfunctions or out‑of‑tolerance conditions.

  • Notify lead person or supervisor about substantive discrepancies between manufacturing planning target time and actual set‑up and/or run times.
  • Work with JIT principles: schedule brake by staging jobs (First‑in‑First‑out), sort jobs by type (material thickness, bend radius), stage needed tooling, bolt tooling onto brake, determine angle and flange length from documentation (CAD, PCM, DLT, etc.), determine pinch point, hand‑wheel brake to needed bend angle, check and make corrections, check flange lengths and correct as needed, and when part is correct buy off first part.
  • Tear down machine or hand‑tool set‑up upon completion of production run, returning all tools, equipment and accessories to their proper locations.
  • Move completed part order to next manufacturing operation or staging area.
  • Work with others, using continuous process improvement tools and techniques and just‑in‑time manufacturing techniques, to develop and install process improvements that positively impact manufacturing throughput, machine and human resources utilization, space utilization, organization and other factors.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • High‑school diploma or high‑school equivalency preferred. Candidates without a diploma must take a pre‑employment assessment to be considered.
  • Detail oriented with the ability to use elementary measuring tools (micrometer, calipers, electronic calipers).
