Description

Position Summary: The President serves as the chief executive officer of North Central Missouri College and provides strategic leadership, vision, and direction for all aspects of the institution. The President works collaboratively with the Board of Trustees, faculty, staff, students, foundation, and community stakeholders to advance the College's mission, ensure student success, oversee fiscal and operational integrity, promote institutional growth, and serve as the primary representative of the College throughout the region and state. The President is responsible for fostering a culture of excellence, transparency, innovation, and accountability while ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and Board policies.

CLASSIFICATION: Administration, Management, Professional (salaried)
REPORTS TO: Board of Trustees
FLSA STATUS: Exempt
CONTRACT TERMS: Full-Time, 12 month contract
LOCATION: Trenton, Missouri-Main Campus

NCMC is flexible on start date and understands candidates may need to fulfill current commitments before transitioning to the position.

Essential Functions: Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to

Board of Trustees Relations
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the College and the Board of Trustees.
  • Keep the Board informed about College operations, opportunities, challenges, and strategic initiatives.
  • Provide professional recommendations and advice on matters requiring Board action.
  • Implement and support Board policies and decisions.
  • Maintain impartial and professional relationships with all Board members.
  • Facilitate effective communication between the Board, faculty, staff, students, and the community.
Leadership and Community Relations
  • Promote the mission, vision, and values of North Central Missouri College throughout the service area and beyond.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with community leaders, businesses, governmental entities, alumni, donors, and educational partners.
  • Serve as the primary spokesperson and representative of the College.
  • Develop productive relationships with local and regional media outlets.
  • Participate actively in community, civic, and professional organizations.
  • Foster strong working relationships with area school districts, superintendents, and educational leaders throughout the NCMC service region.
  • Support partnerships that enhance educational opportunities, workforce development, and community engagement.
Personnel Leadership and Organizational Development
  • Provide leadership for the recruitment, retention, development, and evaluation of College personnel.
  • Develop and maintain sound personnel practices and procedures.
  • Foster a positive organizational culture that promotes collaboration, professionalism, accountability, and employee engagement.
  • Communicate effectively and transparently with faculty, staff, and administrators.
  • Delegate appropriate authority and responsibility to administrative leadership and personnel.
  • Encourage shared governance and employee participation in planning, decision-making, and policy development.
  • Support professional growth and development opportunities for faculty and staff.
  • Work collaboratively with administration to develop salary recommendations and compensation structures.
  • Ensure fair and equitable treatment of employees while maintaining high standards of performance and accountability.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal and state nondiscrimination laws and College policies.
  • Report and assist with inquiries of concern involving the Title IX Coordinator, Section 504 Coordinators, and Deputy Title IX Coordinators, as appropriate.
  • Serve as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) and fulfill reporting obligations as required by the Clery Act.
Academic and Student Success Leadership
  • Promote a culture centered on student success, learning, and academic excellence.
  • Support and monitor the quality, effectiveness, and efficiency of instructional and student support programs.
  • Encourage innovation in academic programming and student services.
  • Evaluate opportunities for new programs and services based on research, workforce needs, enrollment trends, and community demand.
  • Ensure academic offerings remain responsive to the needs of students, employers, and the region.
  • Support accreditation, assessment, and continuous improvement efforts throughout the institution.
Fiscal Stewardship and Resource Development
  • Provide oversight and accountability for the College's financial resources, facilities, and operations.
  • Ensure budgets are developed responsibly and managed effectively.
  • Maintain appropriate internal controls and financial accountability measures.
  • Oversee business operations to ensure efficient and effective institutional performance.
  • Support and advance facility planning, maintenance, and capital improvement initiatives.
  • Promote resource development activities, including fundraising, grants, donor relations, and private support.
  • Advocate for community colleges and North Central Missouri College with local, state, and federal stakeholders.
  • Work collaboratively with legislators, the Missouri Community College Association, and other organizations to support funding and legislative priorities.
Strategic Planning and Institutional Advancement
  • Provide leadership in strategic planning and long-range institutional development.
  • Monitor trends, legislation, demographics, and external factors that may impact the College.
  • Ensure implementation of the College mission, vision, goals, and strategic priorities.
  • Promote innovation, continuous improvement, and organizational effectiveness.
  • Encourage collaboration and teamwork across all College departments and campuses.
  • Evaluate organizational structures and administrative responsibilities to maximize effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Support data-informed decision-making and institutional assessment efforts.
  • Foster an environment that encourages creativity, open dialogue, and shared problem-solving.
Compliance and Risk Management
  • Ensure institutional compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, accreditation standards, and Board policies.
  • Promote ethical conduct and accountability throughout the institution.
  • Support campus safety, emergency preparedness, and risk management initiatives.
  • Oversee institutional compliance efforts related to Title IX, the Clery Act, FERPA, ADA, and other applicable regulations.
  • Ensure appropriate reporting, documentation, and corrective action processes are maintained.
Other Duties
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Board of Trustees.
Requirements
Qualifications:

Education: Doctorate degree from a regionally accredited institution in education, academics, business, or other related field.

Experience: Significant progressively responsible leadership experience in higher education required. Community college leadership experience preferred. Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, fiscal management, personnel leadership, and institutional advancement. Experience working effectively with governing boards, community stakeholders, legislators, and accrediting agencies. Proven record of supporting student success, academic excellence, and organizational growth.

Skills: Exceptional leadership, interpersonal, and relationship-building abilities. Strong written, verbal, and public communication skills. Ability to inspire collaboration and build consensus among diverse constituencies. Demonstrated commitment to shared governance, inclusion, and employee engagement. Strong organizational, analytical, and decision-making skills. Knowledge of higher education governance, finance, accreditation, and compliance requirements. Ability to cultivate partnerships and secure external resources to support institutional priorities. High level of integrity, professionalism, sound judgment, and ethical leadership. Demonstrates the highest standards of ethics, honesty, integrity, and professionalism.

Physical Demands: Moving between buildings on campus and external locations; remaining stationary for extended periods while working at a desk or attending meetings; frequent communication with individuals and groups; frequent travel required; must be able to travel independently.

Environmental Demands: Fluctuations while moving on gravel, concrete, and carpeted floors in a heated and air-conditioned environment; some exposure to the outside elements.
