Job description

  • Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
  • Location: New England / On-Site

BSG has commenced an executive search for a President for our client, a fast-growing, private equity-backed building products manufacturer based in New England generating approximately $75 - $125M in revenue. Reporting to the CEO, the President will own day-to-day operational execution across the core business, including Operations, Manufacturing, and Technology, serving as a trusted operating partner to the CEO as the Company enters its next phase of growth and organizational development.

THE COMPANY

Our client is a fast-growing manufacturer of engineered building products, serving commercial and institutional end markets where its solutions support facility and construction-related projects. Headquartered in New England, the Company is a category leader in its niche of the building products space.

The Company is privately held and backed by a private equity sponsor that acquired a majority stake to support continued product innovation, operational scaling, and expansion into new markets. The Company generates approximately $75 - $125M in revenue and serves customers across the United States through a combination of direct relationships and channel partners.

Location: New England

The role requires full-time presence at company headquarters and close collaboration with the executive leadership team. Some travel may be required for customer engagement, partner relationships, and growth initiatives. Relocation can be supported.

THE POSITION

Our client is seeking a President to lead the Company's next phase of growth, operational scaling, and organizational development.

Reporting to the CEO, this role will own day-to-day operational execution across the core business, including leadership of Operations, Manufacturing, and Technology. The President will serve as a trusted operating partner to the CEO, helping create clearer division of labor, stronger functional accountability, and more consistent leadership cadence across the organization.

This is an enterprise leadership role for a seasoned operator who can combine strategic thinking with hands‑on execution. The ideal candidate will be comfortable stepping into a role that is not purely visionary or purely operational, but instead bridges execution, cross‑functional alignment, and future leadership potential.

The President will be responsible for supporting business performance, strengthening leadership team coordination, and helping the Company manage both organic growth and future inorganic opportunities. Over time, the role is expected to evolve in scope as the company continues to scale and leadership responsibilities mature.

Responsibilities
  • Assume direct functional management of Operations, Manufacturing, and Technology.
  • Own day-to-day core business performance, including revenue, margin, EBITDA, and working‑capital execution.
  • Establish and maintain a weekly and monthly operating cadence with the leadership team.
  • Convert strategic priorities into functional execution plans, departmental KPIs, and headcount plans.
  • Lead the majority of board meeting content and operating‑performance reporting.
  • Serve as the primary operating point of contact for the private equity sponsor on day-to-day, week-to-week, and month-to-month topics.
  • Build strong, trust‑based one‑on‑one relationships with functional leaders.
  • Support alignment across the leadership team while preserving and reinforcing the Company's existing culture.
  • Surface market and customer intelligence to inform strategy without unilaterally setting it.
  • Help evaluate and scale new growth initiatives, including acquisitions once de‑risked and integrated.
  • Support the CEO's transition toward a more strategic and board‑focused role over time.
Success in this role will be defined in the first 12 months by:
  • Establish a clear operating cadence and leadership rhythm across the business.
  • Create trust and confidence with functional leaders through consistent engagement and disciplined execution.
  • Deliver on the annual operating plan while sustaining the company's growth trajectory.
  • Strengthen board reporting, management discipline, and sponsor communication.
  • Translate strategy into functional execution with clear accountability and follow‑through.
  • Build the credibility needed to evolve from operating partner to broader enterprise leader.
  • Support integration of any acquired businesses and future growth initiatives.
  • Demonstrate measurable impact on business performance and organizational stability.
Qualifications
Requirements:
  • Prior experience as a President, COO, or GM with demonstrated readiness for broader enterprise leadership.
  • At least two years of multifunctional P&L leadership.
  • Background in B2B industrial manufacturing, with responsibility for physical products.
  • Experience with engineered or manufactured physical products.
  • Exposure to architecture, engineering, construction, or related environments.
  • Experience in companies with revenue around $100M.
  • Familiarity with private equity ownership, sponsor reporting, and board governance.
  • Experience in privately held, founder‑led, family‑owned, or PE‑backed companies.
  • Willingness to join as President rather than CEO at the outset.
  • Comfort with a dominant New England office presence.
  • Strong operational leadership with the ability to manage both detail and scale.
  • High EQ and the ability to navigate a dual leadership dynamic.
  • RACI fluency and comfort operating within a defined division of labor.
  • Ability to build trust with a leadership team accustomed to a founder‑style decision maker.
  • Pragmatic, collaborative, and non‑dogmatic leadership style.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to align stakeholders across functions.
  • Analytical and disciplined decision‑making.
  • High energy, intellectual curiosity, and a bias toward action.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Advanced degree preferred, but not required.
  • Experience in operational leadership roles within industrial or manufacturing businesses preferred.
  • Prior exposure to building products or construction-related environments is highly desirable.
  • PE‑backed company experience is strongly preferred.
TEAM AND LOCATIONS

The President will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer and work closely with the executive leadership team across operations, manufacturing, engineering, sales, finance, and human resources.

This role will oversee core functional leaders and help shape the next phase of organizational structure as the company scales. The President will be expected to operate as a strong internal leader, trusted executive partner, and unifying force across the business.
