Job summary

Malvern Retreat House seeks a visionary President to lead the organization in fulfilling its Catholic mission and strategic priorities. You will partner with the Board to set direction, sustain resources, and nurture transformative programs.

Reporting to the Chair of the Board, you will guide governance, fundraising, and community relationships while stewarding campus operations and future readiness for the ministry.

Responsibilities

• Catholic Mission & Identity: Ensure that Malvern's Catholic mission and spiritual purpose guide organizational priorities and decisions.
• Strategic Leadership: Develop and advance a clear vision for the future in partnership with the Board and leadership team.
• Organizational Leadership: Foster a culture of excellence, collaboration, accountability, hospitality, and service.
• Financial Stewardship: Provide oversight of budgeting, financial planning, revenue development, and responsible use of resources.
• Fundraising & Development: Cultivate relationships with donors, benefactors, retreatants, parishes, Catholic organizations, and community partners.
• Ministry & Program Development: Strengthen existing programs and identify opportunities to serve the evolving spiritual needs of the Church and wider community.
• Board Partnership: Maintain a productive and transparent relationship with the Board of Directors.
• External Relations: Serve as a visible ambassador for Malvern Retreat House and develop strong relationships throughout the Catholic and broader community.
• Campus & Operations: Oversee the effective stewardship of Malvern's facilities, property, programs, and daily operations.
• Future Readiness: Anticipate emerging opportunities and challenges while honoring Malvern's history and traditions.

Malvern Retreat House President

POSITION SUMMARY

The President is the chief executive leader and primary steward of the mission, vision, and long-term vitality of Malvern Retreat House. The President works in partnership with the Board of Directors and Senior Staff to provide strategic direction, organizational leadership, and responsible stewardship of the ministry.

The President will lead efforts to strengthen Malvern's financial sustainability, expand its reach and impact, develop its people and programs, cultivate philanthropic and community relationships, and steward its campus and resources.

The role requires a leader who can effectively balance mission and ministry, strategy and operations, financial stewardship and growth, and relationship-building and organizational leadership. This role reports direct to the Chair of the Board of Directors.

The successful candidate will bring senior-level leadership experience and a demonstrated ability to lead people, manage resources, build relationships, and advance an organization's mission.

The President should be a practicing Catholic who understands and embraces the mission of Catholic retreat ministry and can authentically represent Malvern Retreat House to the retreat community, the Church, its supporters, and the broader community.
