The Preserve WV AmeriCorps program offers hands-on opportunities to help museums, historic sites, and community orgs protect and share history in West Virginia. As a member, you’ll build skills in historic preservation, education, and community engagement while supporting local partners.

Positions are full-time for 12 months with a stipend, education award eligibility, and childcare assistance where eligible. Training provided, and you’ll work across multiple West Virginia communities.

The Preserve WV AmeriCorps program gives you the chance to make a real difference by helping small museums, historic sites, and community organizations in West Virginia protect and share their history. As a member, you'll build skills in historic preservation, education, and community engagement while supporting organizations that keep West Virginia’s stories alive for future generations. There are a number of service opportunities available and all with unique service plans.

Member Duties

The service duties assigned to the member will be based on individual site and community needs and, in many cases, will incorporate a variety of skills. Visit www.pawv.org/openslots for more information on individual service plans.

Members’ service plan will generally involve the following activities:

• Capacity Building services such as plan and coordinate cultural events; recruit, train, manage volunteers; create educational programs; complete National Register nominations; marketing and communications outreach; artifact conservation; and hands-on historic preservation.
