Job summary

Bechtel is seeking a Preservation Field Engineer to plan, coordinate, and oversee equipment and material preservation throughout the project lifecycle at Chandler, AZ. You will protect assets from deterioration, coordinate with engineering, construction, procurement, and quality, and ensure readiness for turnover and startup.

Responsibilities include implementing preservation programs, establishing requirements for equipment and materials, and guiding technical teams across disciplines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience.
• Alternative: 9-12 years of relevant work experience in lieu of degree.

Responsibilities

• Implements and administers the project preservation program in accordance with project requirements and industry best practices.
• Establishes preservation requirements for equipment, bulk materials, packaged systems, and installed assets.
• Maintains preservation procedures, standards, and execution guidelines throughout the project lifecycle.
• Reviews vendor documentation, preservation requirements, storage instructions, and equipment maintenance recommendations.
• Establishes preservation requirements for rotating, static, electrical equipment, instrumentation, and packaged systems.
• Supports resolution of preservation-related technical issues, deficiencies, and nonconformances.
• Provides technical guidance to construction, warehouse, and commissioning teams.
• Conducts field inspections to verify compliance with preservation requirements.
• Verifies lubrication, environmental controls, desiccant management, coatings, humidity control, and storage conditions.
• Identifies deficiencies and drives corrective actions before degradation occurs.
• Supports audits, readiness reviews, and quality assessments.
• Develops preservation schedules and inspection frequencies.
• Coordinates preservation activities with procurement, warehousing, construction, quality, commissioning, and startup.
• Ensures preservation responsibilities are clearly assigned across phases.
• Supports workface planning and readiness reviews.
