Job summary

Bechtel is seeking a Preservation Field Engineer in New Albany, Ohio, to plan, coordinate, and verify preservation of equipment from receipt through installation and turnover. The role focuses on protecting asset condition, supporting warranty requirements and reducing startup risk through documented preservation controls.

Qualifications

• Interpret technical documents and project procedures to create equipment preservation plans.
• Organize and manage an assigned field scope within approved procedures and schedules.
• Coordinate with multiple work groups and elevate issues requiring engineering disposition.

Responsibilities

• Review OEM instructions and project procedures to develop preservation plans and inspection criteria.
• Maintain a preservation asset register with equipment tags, locations, and due dates.
• Verify receiving conditions and ensure proper storage, packaging, and protections for equipment.
• Inspect preservation controls for corrosion, moisture, and contamination; ensure compatibility with storage and installation.
• Schedule and verify recurring preservation tasks (lubrication, inspections) with proper permits and safeguards.
• Document preservation deficiencies, overdue tasks, and coordinate corrective actions and closures.
• Integrate preservation activities with construction and commissioning schedules; forecast resources.
• Maintain traceable records and support turnover documentation and quality reviews.
• Coordinate handover to commissioning and ensure custody transfer and ongoing obligations.
